September usually starts out busy for us moms who are sending off their children to school. I won't leave out us wives who send our husband's off to work with a full lunch box. I spoil my family this way every morning by taking the time to do this for them. It is my way of making them feel special even though they are perfectly capable of doing this themselves. (Oh....I make sure I get my rewards too...like my husband has to get me gas in my car when it is empty and he has to make my cup of coffee for me every morning. My daughter's will walk to the store down the street and get me a slurpee when I have a craving. ) Anyways, I am getting to the topic for this posting.
How do you tell your family you love them? Do you leave cards or special notes in their lunch boxes? For years, I have been taking one bite out of their sandwich. I call them love bites. I don't do them all the time, otherwise they wouldn't be special. My daughter just reminded me this morning that she hasn't gotten a love bite in her sandwich for a long time, which gave me the idea for this topic. So....tell us what you do to make your family feel special. Pass on your unique ideas so that we can use them too! Any one who participates will qualify for the drawing at the end of the month. The prize? A snack bag/sandwich bag set like the one shown above. The drawing will be held on September 30th!

I would love to win some snack bags. I am here from Fridays Gracious Giveaways!
ReplyDeleteMy littles are 1 and 2 so we don't have anyone out to school yet but growing up mom always tucked notes or a special treat into our bags :)
Stopping by courtest of Friday's Gracious Giveaways. I just LOVE all your reusable bags. The prints are great!
ReplyDeleteWe do the cookie cutter sandwiches here too! And notes in the lunches!! My kids love that! And I love to theme them by holiday or season! I love the "bite" out of the sandwich...that is SO adorable!
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite family things that we do is "family fun night", but my kids plan it...It could be choosing a special meal to cook at home, a special movie & snacks at home, an outing, a craft, going to paint pottery together, etc... Really makes each of my kids like they have a voice in planning family activities!!
Made my way through Etsy... found your shop, which led me to your blog :)
ReplyDeleteI tuck notes into my girls' lunch boxes every once in awhile. I'm also lucky to be a SAHM... once a month or so, I'll suprise my girls by showing up to have lunch with them at school!

I am a sahm too! My daughter's love McDonalds for their special delivery.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! I'm stopping by courtesy of Friday's Gracious Giveaways. I must be a horrible person because I can't think of anything I do that is "special". Does changing imaginary diapers on baby dolls all day long count?
ReplyDeletei have always told my kids that i love them and i blow them a kiss. my teenage boys were never embarrassed having mom drop them off at school. i usually call there name and when they turn around, i would blow them a kiss and they would return one. i've been doing this since they were in kinder and they are now 17 & 14. i've started this tradition with my girl who's 4. since there is a HUGE age gap, i keep things the same.
ReplyDeleteas a child my parents never told me that they love me, so i make sure i tell my kids all the time and my hubby. i will text it to them and my hubby. praise the lord, life is great with my little family that he has blessed me with:-)
Manda, I think changing imaginary diapers on baby dolls ALL DAY could count. That sounds like a sacrifice. I am sure that your daughter feels very special with all of that quality time spent on her.
ReplyDeleteI think that is very sweet to blow kisses at your son. The fact that they blow a kiss back is even sweeter. Now that is the kind of boy I hope my daughters date.
I thought of another thing I do with my girls. Whenever they are sick and have to stay home from school, I pamper them all day. They get to lay on the couch and snuggle up under daddy's special blanket I crocheted for him. (He is very protective of it.) Then, I make them toast and juice and serve it to them on a sponge bob tv tray. The tray only comes out on those sick days. They get their juice in a toddler sippy cup. (We keep one in case we have a toddler visitor.) Even though they are teenagers, they absolutely love the sippy cup. They love being sick and staying home with mommy.
I have recently finished school for my RN. I had a huge task at hand trying to balance school and a family. I have a 2 year old, one on the way and a wonderful husband. So I decided that while going through school no matter what I would be home to make dinner for my family and to put Rylan to bed (we sing songs and talk about the day we had). That was always my way of showing them I was there for them. My husband is now in school and we are pregnant with our second baby boy. I like to make lunches for my husband for school and put little notes in them telling him how much he means to our family. I also make sure when he gets home at 7 PM I have dinner on the table so he can eat with us still every night.Oh one more thing when we put Rylan to bed at night we ask him "what are the three things?" He then answers by saying "I love you, you are smart and I am proud of you." We always tell him those 3 things before he goes to bed everynight. Those are just a couple of ways I try to be there for my family and show them they mean the world to me!!
