Every blog seems to have a theme. This blog is about sharing and caring. I personally, would like to put my English degree to good use so we will tell lots's of stories here on KB Exquisites. This month's topic: DARN THAT KID!
Do I have a story to tell you! The other day, my youngest daughter, Ember knocked over her fish tank. It fell to the floor with a SPLASH!! In the wink of an eye, the whole contents of the tank, including Floyd the fish was soaking into the carpet. My husband had to vacuum up the water, rocks and algae. He had to tear up the carpet to get air on it. For the next three days we had a fan blowing on it so it could get completely dry before we laid the carpet back down. What a mess! Don't worry, Floyd survived....and one good thing came of it. Ember had to gut out her room and give it a good cleaning. Yes...it was a DARN THAT KID moment where we had to tell ourselves..."We love our child, we love our child."
Now it is your turn. Tell us a story of something your kids did that tested your patience. Anyone who contributes will be eligible for this month's giveaway. A drawing will be held on August 30th for a set of three snack bags like these. The lucky winner will get to choose from my store.

One of my favorite Darn Kids moments happened last christmas. Our 3 oldest kids were in my daughters room. They were suppose to be helping pack up the christmas decorations in their room....or so we thought :) My husband & I were occupied with getting all of the holiday decor down & packed away & we were suprised how well the kids seemed to be doing! No one had came to us with any problems! Finally we took a break to go & see how their progress was coming! Oh boy is all I have to say! They had found a large piece of styrofoam in a box that was used for a breakable piece & they crumbled every last bit of that ALL over the entire bedroom! When we came in they had the biggest smiles on their faces & they told us "Look, it snowed in our room". Thy were so pleased with their "snow". It took SO long to clean that up! That stuff makes a mess & clings to EVERYTHING! I swear we still see some now & then!! But, boy were they proud of that snowstorm in their room. Those darn kids!! :)
ReplyDeleteThat is just hilarious! I can just picture that blustery day. What an adorable idea though. I have a Christmas village that we set up every year. It came with fake snow. I never put it out because that stuff gets everywhere; especially when you have kids. Thanks for being the first to share.
ReplyDeleteIt is now :) At the time is SO was not...to us...to them it was AMAZING!!! I know, we have that snow stuff too, but I always leave it packed away!! IT is pretty, but very messy!!!
ReplyDeleteYour fish story was perfect timing around here! My kids have been begging for a pet & mentioned a fish....I think we would have the same story here if we got them one!! But we will see :)
Oh, we have these moments every day. We are currently working on potty training - it's going great!! But once the pee dance starts things need to move FAST. Cate will run to the bathroom, strip down and do her thing. The other day she waited a bit too long and ended up peeing all over her pulled down undies, bathroom rug, potty and her pants.... DARN THAT KID! As we all know the laundry never ends and this just helped add another load... :)
ReplyDeleteI remember those days well. Shortly before her potty training days, my oldest, Caroline left surprises for me. She used to take her diaper off and do a quick squat. They figure that velcro out really fast on those diapers. She didn't want to do #2 in her pants. I can't blame her there. So instead, #2 ended up on the carpet. Another time, she decided to finger paint with the stuff in her crib. That was totally a DARN THAT KID moment. I have fun reminding her about that now that she is way past that stage.
ReplyDeletemy 4yr old daughter will make a mess in the living room with all her toys. when i tell her to pick them up, she tells me, "mommy look at me, i'm giving you my blinking eyes so you can't be mad"...DARN THAT KID...its true! i can't, she's my last child and she knows how to work it.
ReplyDeleteThese are great stories. Mine is not really a one-time thing - it went on for weeks before we even suspected it was a DARN THAT KID story.
ReplyDeleteWe adopted a dog in December. She was loving and small, but had a great need to pee on rugs. Especially the rug in my 5yr old son's bedroom. She piddled on this (washable) rug daily for weeks. Or so we thought. It turns out, she had a partner in crime. One day, after I put the newly-clean rug back in my son's room, I came in again with fresh sheets and caught my son in the act of, you guessed it, PEEING ON THE RUG. After a long conversation, it turns out that he peed on the rug after she did EVERY TIME. This only made her pee on it more. Yes, my son and our new dog had gotten into a territorial marking contest. DARN THAT KID! Now he has a doggie gate on his door.

ReplyDeleteI have 5 children so there are so very many moments to choose from...
ReplyDeleteI sell AVON. My 2nd oldest son is 12 and has always enjoyed being my helper. He'll help me find all of the numbers for ordering and then pull & pack orders for customers. I give free gifts with each order so I am always buying things that I think my customers would like or benefit from.
A month or so ago I purchased a weight loss system to hold on to. I didn't have any one customer in mind...several would be interested in trying it if they were more informed.
Anyway, one of my most loyal customers comes over about once a month to fellowship and learn about new products. I sent my son to get her package from the office. He handed her the bag and then handed her a box and says, "My mom got this for you to try".
What was it? The weight loss system, of course. Is she overweight? Yes, slightly. Has she ever expressed a concern? Nope.
DARN THAT KID!
My kids and I are enjoying reading about all of your stories. It's hard not to laugh. They think we should have a Darn those Pets post too, but it looks like we have a combination of that. This morning, I caught my dog Moose, lapping up a cup of my coffee that I left sitting on the coffee table. Darn him! :)
ReplyDeleteDon't forget, the drawing for the snack bags is tomorrow. Does anybody else have anything to share?
Kids and pets seem to be a recipe for chaos, don't they?
ReplyDeleteAnd the lucky winner is.......Jennifer! You have won a set of three snack bags. Go to my store and pick them out. Just send me a convo to let me know which three you would like along with your address.
